Panasonic RP-HV200 Portable Earbud Headphones with Boosted Bass Customer Review
These are probably the best earbuds i've heard that are not the in ear canal type. Especially at this price point. This sound is pretty good, and there is a decent amount of bass because the tip channels ths sound into your ear canal instead of aiming it at your flesh. It's not ground-pounding, but the bass is certainly better than your standard earbuds. These do sound tinny if your equalizer is not set right, but then again so do all earbuds. Keep these on "small speaker" if you have an iPod, or if youre using something else pick custom, and then make a diagonal line with a boost in bass and reduction in treble.
The fit is very good because they are designed to fit into your ears natural shape. Putting them in takes a bit longer than your average buds. You have to set them in, and then twist and push until the tip finds its place in your ear canal. AFter that, these are not going to fall out. These would be great for running/cycling where you need to be able to hear your surroundings and have something that stays in very well. They are very comfortable. You can feel them for about a minute, but then they disappear. I've fallen asleep in them before and woke up without any discomfort or pressure points.
These seem like they will last a very long time. The jack shorting out and only sending sound to one side is the most common headphone failure, but these have the sturdiest jack I've ever seen. It has 2 layers. The inner layer, which is right next to the metal plug, is a hard plastic. That is surrounded by a flexible rubber coating. Seems like it will soak up jerks well and keep all the connections intact.
The picture isn't exactly accurate. It was stretched horizontally, since the scale is off. They arent as wide as they appear to be hear, and the colors are different. The wires are more of a smoke gray and the earbuds are a matching gray with sparkles.
These are the style where one side is longer than the other. I prefer the traditional "Y" shape, but it is a minor gripe. Just take the right earbud, put the cord behind your back, and then you have 2 even length cords. I'm amazed by the number of people I see who don't know this.
On a random sidenote, when you have these in, touch the back where the hole is and hear the change in sound. Porting makes a huge difference in the quality and amount of bass, and this is the most drastic example I've ever heard.
